Blues Night featuring Grae and Vince

This is an old video taken at The Outpost featuring my good pals Grae on vocals and Vince Russo (Soul Mafia) on guitars. I believe this was during the Blues Night of the 2nd Cebu Guitar Festival. Enjoy both Jimi Hendrix and Muddy Waters classics!

Old Love by Electric Tuesdays (Joniver on vocals)

Get a bunch of master guitarists, an excellent singer, spiced up by the rest, then you have Electric Tuesdays! Here they are doing a modern classic from Eric Clapton (and Robert Cray). Great licks starting at 01:44, with excellent electric piano near the end of the vid. The band: Chikoy Pura - Guitar and Vocals Joniver Robles - Guitar and Vocals Mon Espia - Guitar and Vocals Kim Lesaca - Bass Guitar and Vocals Ronnie Dizon - Keyboards Alden Abaca - Drums

Blues Jam by blues2death

There are good Blues guitar players, and there are mediocres. This guy surely lived up to his moniker!

Sunshine of Your Love by Cuarenta

Here's another great performance from Cebu's top Blues band, Cuarenta featuring Cream's classic hit. From Wikipedia: "Sunshine of Your Love" is a song by the British supergroup Cream. It features a distinctive guitar/bass guitar riff and an acclaimed guitar solo from Eric Clapton. It was written by bassist Jack Bruce, Pete Brown, and Clapton. In 2004, the song was named the 65th greatest song of all time by Rolling Stone magazine.

Blues Guitar Backing Track (heavy) in G

Ready to play amplified Blues harp? Then get your vintage microphone, plug it into your valve amp, and show them what you've got!

Won't Cry for You by Friends of Adam

Get a load of pure Blues! Here's Friends of Adam with their original 12-bar song "Won't Cry For You." Another splendid performance from the power Blues trio of Hawaii. Hear the guitar wail!

Blues Harp, Literally!!!

Being a Blues harp fan, I often search through YouTube for inspiration, and I came across this video from a great artist named Deborah Henson-Conant. Here she is performing "Beck's Blues." After watching her play her instrument, I'm now thinking twice of calling the harmonica a "Blues harp." Awesome!!!

Backing Track in G - Great for Harp!

I just found this great acoustic backing track in the key of G. Great for practice, especially with the Blues harp - not too fast, not too slow, just the right speed. And remember to use a "C" harp for this. Keep on wailin'!!!

Ball and Biscuit by White Stripes

Ever wondered how a cross between Muddy Waters and Zack de la Rocha would sound like? Listen to this 12-bar Blues song and you'll get what I'm talking about. Plus a cool guitar solo too! "Ball and Biscuit" is the 8th track from White Stripes' 2003 album, Elephant.

Article on Blueskrieg!

Image
The Blues Sounds Good in Pinoy Hands By Bert B. Sulat Jr. Philippine Daily Inquirer Filed Under: Music, Entertainment (general) “Blueskrieg” Various Artists Rebolusyon Rekords/Vicor “Blueskrieg” was the moniker for a multiband blues show in 1995 at Club Dredd. A decade and many such gigs later, the event’s impresario, Gerry Diwa, produced “Blueskrieg,” an album containing 15 “original Pilipino blues music” by five bands: Plug, Snakecharmer, Firebottle, Dahon and Kulukati. These livewire groups may be classified along the blues-rock stripe, as opposed to the straightforward-blues type. As such, while traditional blues elements like the 12-bar structure and down-and-out lyricism are perceptible here, so are rock flourishes ranging from Southern rock, classic rock, even funk and Pinoy rock. Any sonic apparitions of the blues’ forebears tend to get buried in the hodgepodge of influences that echo the Rolling Stones, Sly and the Family Stone, The Black Crowes, The Cult, Red Hot Chili Pepper...

Wally's Blues by Jerome Basilio/zorlacbaby

I never get tired listening to this song which was originally done by JDLC's Wally Gonzalez, the original Pinoy Blues guitar god. Here's Jerome doing his version of the classic Pinoy rocker's hymn. Excellent guitars skills from this guy. And he's not only good with his axe, but with martial arts as well!

Dust for Angels by Friends of Adam

Here's an original instrumental piece from Hawaii's best Blues band. It starts off with a "clean" guitar then slowly speeds up to a Hendrix feel in the middle and later parts. Hear the strat wail on this one!

Blues In A Major by Christelle Berthon

Another mind-blowing demo by the French harp "master," this time using a Suzuki Manji M-20 ($64.95 on their website). Kinda cool listening to an unplugged harp. Listen how she creates those sound effects with her mouth instead of her hands. Overall, an amazing performance!

Red House by hannanathan564

A future guitar god! Here's Nathan doing his version of Jimi's Red House. He made this video when he was 11 years old. (I always wanted to learn that lick at 01:47.)
