I've just gotten word that our Pinoy Blues brothers in Hawaii made it to the finals for Hard Rocks Battle of the Bands! (From HardRock.com website) What's the big deal? These bands are competing for a chance to open Hard Rock Calling in London! They're battling for a spot on the same bill as Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Pearl Jam, The Hives, The Gaslight Anthem, and Ben Harper & Relentless7. We're gonna give the winning band round-trip airfare, four nights in a first-class hotel, spending cash, and the chance to rock thousands of screaming fans at one of the best festivals in the world. Yeah, we think that's pretty cool, too. It's up to you now. Bring the noise and send one band on the tour of a lifetime! ... so let's show some love to our brothers. Support Pinoy Blues! Cold Heart by Friends of Adam

Pinoy Blues at its finest! Here's FOA with an original track from their debut album Dust for Angels.

Won't Cry for You by Friends of Adam

Get a load of pure Blues! Here's Friends of Adam with their original 12-bar song "Won't Cry For You." Another splendid performance from the power Blues trio of Hawaii. Hear the guitar wail!

Dust for Angels by Friends of Adam

Here's an original instrumental piece from Hawaii's best Blues band. It starts off with a "clean" guitar then slowly speeds up to a Hendrix feel in the middle and later parts. Hear the strat wail on this one!

Stranger Blues by Friends of Adam

This is the trio's take on the classic tune "Stranger Blues." Originally done by Elmore James and covered by more than a dozen artists, notably by Fleetwood Mac, Johny Winter, and Canned Heat. This song is mainly characterized by the slide guitar playing alternating with the vocals. Really, really difficult thing to do especially if you're doing both! Clay didn't seem to have any trouble with it though. "Well, I'm a stranger here And I just blowed in your town Well, I'm a stranger here And I just blowed in your town Just because I'm a stranger Everybody wants to dog me around"

From http://www.foablues.com/bio.php ~ Blues In The Land Of Slack Key "My dad told me, 'Nobody wants to hear that music here,'" says Campania. "But I'm going to play what touches me." Play they do. From "Crossroads" and "Little Wing," the soul of Stevie Wonder and Bill Withers, to a blistering rearrangement of Robert Johnson's "Me and the Devil," and their own originals, Friends of Adam speaks to a genre where Guitar Player is a musician and not a computer game Can three, young Filipino men play the blues? John Heckathorn, editor of "Honolulu Magazine" wrote: "When Campania picks up his guitar, he channels Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan." John Hart, confidant of the late guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan exclaimed "they are as for real as anything you will see on Sixth Street in Austin, Texas. The band has recently opened for Rock n' Roll Hall of Famer, Aerosmith, at The Blaisdell Arena, mult...
